Nearwatch Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 11, 2026
Nearwatch shows incidents reported by public agencies on a map. It works without an account, and we do not run a server that receives your data. This policy explains what the app does with information on your device and which services it talks to.
Who we are
Ka.I Health GmbH, Brandenburger Str. 21, 65582 Diez, Germany

What we collect
Nothing. Nearwatch has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We do not receive, store or sell any personal data.
Your location
If you allow it, Nearwatch uses your location while the app is open to center the map and to sort incidents by distance. Your location is processed on your device only and is never sent to us. The app does not use your location in the background. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services.
Loading incidents
To show incidents, the app requests data for the map area you are looking at from public data portals of U.S. cities, counties and federal agencies (for example the National Weather Service, the U.S. Geological Survey and FEMA). These requests contain the coordinates of the visible map area. Like any website, these providers can see your IP address. Their own privacy policies apply. When the app refreshes in the background, it loads incidents for the map area you viewed last.
Maps
The map is provided by Apple Maps (MapKit). Apple's privacy policy applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
Stored on your device
Your settings, the last viewed map area and recently loaded incidents are stored on your device so the map opens quickly. Deleting the app removes them.
Free trial and purchase
Nearwatch can be used for free for 3 days, starting the first time you open it. To keep track of the trial, the app stores the date of first launch in your device's Keychain and in your iCloud account (iCloud Keychain and iCloud key-value storage), so the trial is not reset by reinstalling the app. Only that date is stored. It is handled by Apple and is not accessible to us.
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details. Apple's privacy policy applies.
Reminders
If you allow notifications, the app schedules reminders on your device. No push server is involved. You can turn reminders off in the app's settings.
Sharing
When you share an incident, the image is created on your device and sent only where you choose to share it.
Children
Nearwatch is not directed to children under 13.
Your rights
Because we do not hold any personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. If you are in the EU, you still have the rights under the GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. For any question, write to info@kai-health.net.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
